32nd Annual Wawa Ice Fishing Derby

The 32nd Annual Wawa Ice Fishing Derby almost here!

Here's a few things to remember!

  • Wawa Lake No-Fishing Zone  On Wawa Lake, due to the location if the Municipal Wate intake, the Municipality of Wawa has imposed a no-fishing zone between the points at which Gold Street and Ontario Street terminate at Wawa Lake. A distance of 1,000 feet from shore IS A PROHIBITED AREA
Refer to the Wawa Lake map under the Derby Info tab to see where that is.
  • Rule 12.  Participants MUST register at the Official Check-In Station on the lake which they are fishing, and MUST check out when they leave the lake. Failure to check- in or out on the lake will disqualify any fish from being entered into the Derby. (This rule to be strictly enforced).
  • Rule 16.  All fish MUST be weighed in at the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre by 6:30 pm. on Saturday, March 2, 2024 and 3:30 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Fish that are tagged MUST be weighed the day they are tagged to be eligible for prizes.
  • Rule 15. All fish caught MUST be tagged or released immediately.
